Gerry Barnabys Film Review : X MEN FIRST CLASS

Genre : Comic Book Sci-Fi Action Adventure, Contain mild to strong violence & mild nudity

Cert: 12A

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: Mystique is shown as a young girl naked with blue skin and scales covering her private areas.
Mystique is encouraged to accept herself in her natural form, she is seen naked in a scene where a character tells her to get dressed for decencies sake. (Genitalia and breasts do not have definition and are covered with scales) Later this character is seen naked in a panning shot from the side, which starts at the legs and moves up to the face. For reference, look at photos of Mystique. Her nudity is more animal-like and is not sexual.
Emma Frost exposes deep cleavage and/or her legs in every scene.
One character defends another having abnormal big feet by saying, "You know what they say about guys with big feet...". It's a joke.
There is one scene in which a woman gets inside of a man's head, and he fantasizes that she is sitting on his lap in lingerie, and he is groping her (no nudity--but quite sexual).
A woman is shown in her underwear.
First strip club scene: Several young women in lingerie escort men about a nightclub. A government agent strips down to her own lingerie to blend in among them.
Second strip club scene: women wearing revealing clothing dance around, another woman (a mutant) takes Erik and Xavier for a "private dance" but instead, they ask her about her powers. She takes off her top from behind to reveal her wings, but is still wearing the front part.
One character tries to seduce another while lying in bed under a sheet, she is presumably naked.

Violence & Gore: The beginning of the film is set in a concentration camp during the Holocaust. In one of the scenes, a woman gets shot with much warning and two soldiers get their heads crushed by their helmets. Absolutely no blood or gore is seen, but it is an intense scene lasting about half a minute.
A main character stabs a man twice in the hand with a knife (no blood) and then stabs another man with it (no blood) and then shoots two men (still no blood).
Many people are shot.
A mutant who can generate tornadoes throws several agents around, killing them.
A mutant leader who can control and manipulate energy kills several agents by reflecting their ordnance in the form of a massive explosion by a stomp on the ground.
One demonic character disappears and appears slicing other men's flesh. No blood is seen but the sound of ripping tissue is heard.
A mutant kills many people by dropping them from high up. Many people are killed this way. He also kills many people with a sword/blade, but no blood is seen.
One man's tooth filling is tortuously pulled out magnetically.
A character shoves a coin through another character's head. Some blood is shown on the coin. This is somewhat graphic.

Profanity:  4 sexual references, 2 anatomical terms, 3 religious profanities, 10 religious exclamations, 8 mild obscenities, name-calling, exclamations.
1 use of the "f-word"; 1 use of "sh--".
The Wolverine said the f-word to Magnito and Professor Xavier in the dinner scene during the mid scene of the film.
The Wolverine: (go fuck yourselfs!)

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: A man asks a woman if she was smoking "those funny cigarettes."
A man makes vague references to his drink being drugged when he believes he is hallucinating.
A discussion about German beer.
Throughout, men and women drink cocktails, beer and champagne.
Two men are shown smoking cigars on two different occasions

Frightening/Intense Scenes A man transforms into a mutant with blue hair all over his body (could be frightening).
The violence can be quite intense and sometimes pretty brutal.

Story : Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN.

Likes : Kevin bacon as the Nazi mutant wasn't to bad in this film,i like the way you saw some of the new mutants & some old ones that we all no of like magneto professor x ,beast , mystique, but i did like that you find out why professor x ended up in a wheel chair i thought that was quite good,u could understand why magneto turn against him in the fight to save human because of losing his mum & everything,
i love the fact the wolverine was in it but only for a second he one line was "f**k off", that was funny, it wasn't a bad film for a prequel.First Class never undermines the audience nor talks down to them and does all that is expected of it. It delivers great action, humor, effects and a strong connection between heroes, villains and those developing in between. The retro design is suave and making this a period piece gives it a cool and unique flavour.

Dislike : altho this film was good it lacked that edge the other films had it was a little to slow to start off with the fact it didn't really show more mutants in this film i think its what let it down in some way for me.

Overall : X-Men: First Class, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Rating: 3 out 5 stars for entertainment, 7 out of 10 for storyline filling with the first three films
