Gerry Barnabys Film Review: Transformers 3 Dark Side of The Moon

Genre:   Adventure  Action  Sci-Fi, contains strong violent action & robot fighting

Cert:  12A

Parents advised to read before viewing film as some scene may contain scenes unsuitable for younger viewers.

Sex & Nudity: No outright sex, but every scene Carly is in features her in either underwear (the actress is a famous Victoria's Secret model) or a revealing outfit. She and Sam kiss in bed and several other times. Her entire purpose is to be attractive and have others make comments about her "hotness". Sam's mother makes inappropriate references to sex and even speculates about how "big" he is to have had two gorgeous girlfriends. In one scene, a sexily dressed Latina character is referred to as a "hoochie mama", and her anger is called a "Latin meltdown".

Ages 13+, depending on your child and your family.

Violence & Gore: Incessant, loud, explosion-based violence, usually featuring the robotic Transformers and human beings. The evil Transformers don't care about collateral human damage, and they routinely cause mass destruction to buildings, bridges, cars, and even national monuments like the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. There's a high body count, even though the camera never lingers on any human death (it does linger on Transformer deaths, including those of sympathetic secondary characters and one that's particularly gruesome). The military (including the Air Force special ops and Navy SEALs) uses technologically advanced weapons and gear to battle the Transformers that are threatening to turn humans into a slave race. When the Decepticons attack Chicago, their cannons blow humans apart into a cloud of clothing and particles (bloodless but more violent than the first two movies)

Profanity: Surprisingly frequent use of the following words: "asshole", "bitch", "shit", "hell", "damn", "crap", "ass", "dickhead", and "oh my God". One mouthed "fuck", one "fuck" said aloud and one humorously said "clusterfuck" (cut off at "clusterf...").

13+

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: At a couple of dinner parties, adults are shown briefly with glasses in hand.
The alcohol/drugs/smoking in this film is certainly not an issue!

Frightening/Intense Scenes: Parents need to know that the third installment in the blockbuster Transformers franchise is less crude than the first sequel but more violent than the original. Tween and teen boys in particular will be interested in seeing this movie, but even younger kids who are familiar with the Hasbro toys may be curious about yet another live-action adaptation. Like all of director Michael Bay's films, there's a constant threat to all the characters -- in fact, humanity in general -- and an accompanying body count to match that sense of peril. Some robot deaths are particularly startling. Language is edgy, with frequent uses of "a--hole", "bitch", and "s--t" and three variations on the F-bomb. This is a dream movie for car, weapon, and military aficionados, but not so much for young girls, since the only three woman in the film are stereotypes -- the young blond "hottie", the tough older careerist, and the wisecracking middle-aged mom.

Story : The interstellar battle between the Autobots and Decepticons rains destruction down on planet Earth as director Michael Bay adapts Hasbro and Takara's popular Transformers franchise into a big-budget, live-action summer tentpole extravaganza in this ambitious sci-fi action feature starring Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Bernie Mac, John Turturro, Jon Voight, and, of course, Optimus Prime and Megatron. Long ago, on the planet of Cybertron, a massive, powerful alien race divided into two factions, the noble Autobots, and the devious Decepticons. They fought for the sole access to a talisman known as the Allspark, a cube with the capacity to grant infinite power, and eventually the Autobots smuggled it off the planet's surface, hiding it in an unknown location on Earth. Now, hundreds of years later, the Deceptacons have come looking for it, and if the Autobots don't find it first, the Earth will be enslaved or destroyed by the evil aliens' use of its massive power. The Autobots don't know where the cube was hidden, but the information may be stored in the most unlikely of sources, as a gangly young Earthling named Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) who's just picked up his first car, has a strange connection to the Allspark's history, making him the unlikely ally of these enormous creatures, as they fight for humankind's survival and the chance to return home.

Likes : This film was ok not as good as the first two films but watchable i thought,Optimus Prime still kicks ass even when things hit the fan so to speak, but the action was ok,i love the fact that they brought in a coulpe of new transformers like shock wave,Dino,Que / Wheeljack,Brains,Roadbuster / Amp,Leadfoot / Target,Laserbeak,Igor & Sentinel Prime voice of spook from star trex(Leonard Nimoy) was a good choice ,(labeouf) repraise the role as sam was good & most of the acting was solded.replace meg fox i thought they did a good job with that because they had her writen in as she left sam for someone esle & had Carly Spencer (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) victoria secret model play he's new love interested in the film.all the action seen were good,i love the fact they put slow motion into it it allow you to see the action more better.i like the fact they show cybertron at the start of the film which showed the war & i love the fact they made the first around our own space race with the apollo 11 on the moon.

Dislike : Carly Spencer (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) although she beautiful her acting skill need more work she was so wooden in this film there was no flare to her charater, the story line bring cybertron to earth seriously that was a bad choice i still think it should of been one final battle with unicron if this was to be the last film.

Overall : not a bad film to watch, the storyline could of been better but watchable, but who ever dose take over from micheal bay making these film has gone big shoes to fill.its worth watch if your a transformers fan.

Rating: 5 out of 5 star for action & entertainment, 6.5 out of 10 for storyline.
