Gerry Barnaby's Film Review: Stephen King's The Mist

Story: Frequent Stephen King collaborator Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) teamed with the celebrated horror author once again for this tale of terror concerning a small town engulfed by a malevolent mist, based on a story originally published in King's 1985 horror anthology Skeleton Crew. When a thick fog descends upon a rural community and claims the lives of anyone unfortunate enough to be caught outside, a small band of survivors seeks refuge in a local grocery store. Now trapped in a darkened cloud of pure horror, the frightened denizens of the town are forced to fend off an advancing horde of murderous monsters. Punisher star Thomas Jane heads up an ensemble cast that includes Andre Braugher, Laurie Holden, William Sadler, and Marcia Gay Harden

Likes : This has to be one of the best horror film Ive ever watched by Stephen king, the whole storyline real dose keep you on the edge of your seat, special effect really are amazing as well it like a roller coaster of emotion as you start to feel the fear of the people trapped in a supermarket not know what the hell is going on when the shit hit the fan it final dawns on them that there in trouble.This film real put a chill down my spin & was seriously spooky in places.Thomas Jane star of the punisher plays David Drayton who to keep his son save through all this as one by one the people in the shop start to loss faith apart from one trouble maker Mrs. Carmody a bible nut case preach to everyone there going to die if they don't repent played by Marcia Gay Harden, Laurie Holden star of walking dead plays Amanda Dunfrey who get caught up in all this.along with stars  Andre Braugher who plays Brent Norton,
Toby Jones plays Ollie Weeks, William Sadler plays Jim,  Jeffrey DeMunn who plays Dan Miller, Frances Sternhagen plays Irene Reppler, Nathan Gamble plays Thomas Jane characters son Billy Drayton, Alexa Davalos plays Sally, Chris Owen plays Norm, Sam Witwer star of smallville aka (doomsday) plays Private Jessup who know whats going on but is hiding it.Robert C. Treveiler plays Bud Brown, David Jensen plays Myron &
Melissa McBride star of walking dead plays a Woman that get scared because her kids are at Home alone.along with this casting & the story line it take you in to this world of nightmares & fear,it real dose keep you gripped but with a seriously emotion ending that will make you cry your eyes out.

Dislikes : There wasn't really anything wrong with this film apart from it being a little slow in place but it was a fantastic film.

Overall : If you like Stephen king films,blood gore,mystery this is one to watch,this storyline has to be one of the best storyline Ive seen in a horror film.

Christopher Lloyd reprises his role as the eccentric piranha expert with survivor Paul Scheer and a partially devoured Ving Rhames back for more fish frenzy. David Hasselhoff trades in the sandy beaches of "Baywatch" to be a celebrity lifeguard at the racy water park. Prepare for double the terror, double the action and double the D's in this sequel also starring Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka and David Koechner

Likes : This film was OK, had its moments with a few laughs & one liners,Christopher Lloyd returns as the mad scientist that know about the piranha existence explains that they are evolving & becoming stronger,i like this type of film special the first one because that had real horror to it.Some of the woman in this film were gorgeous i like theme of the swimming pool adult striper swimming pool.

Dislikes : Where do i start one is the fact they tried to do what cabin in the woods did by making it in to a spoof film,comedy & real horror do not mix in films,if it was comical horror ya this film would of got away with it,but this film was more about big boobs & lack of comedy than a real horror film that it should of been in the first place.To me i think they ruined this film by put comedey in it,because it could of been so much better than it was,it felt rushed & less horror.Special with the ending,This film was poorly made with no imagination.

Overall : If you like big boobs bounce everywhere & some funny moments this is a film for you,if you looking for horror avoid this film because it lack that horror feel.

Likes : OMG ridley scott is a master of making sc-fi horror films, this is one outstanding movie not to be missed,the tension in the film was off the charts that make you think what the hell is going on, on planet lv-223, serious this film real dose pull no punchs & answers alot of question to were the xenomorph origins & special the ending wow just outstanding , a master piece of film history,despite what another critic say about this film this is a number one blockbuster of the year my hand goes out to ridley Scott for this film.not only dose it deliver the tension of a horror film but deliver a level of suspense like the first alien film.with this film i now see how things happened & how it blends in with the whole saga.the casting for this film was completely spot on you could pick a better casting if you tried for this type of film.Noomi Rapace plays Elizabeth Shaw serious what happens to her is just evil, but you see her character play a role that vital to the answers everyone's been waiting for i wont say what because your have to see for your self but when you do you will see what i mean. Michael Fassbender plays David now his character came off as a little weird as the android it seemed a little sinister in a way like he was up to something.Charlize Theron plays Meredith Vickers Mr weylands daughter,now i found her character a little off like she was hiding something,which you could tell from the start which you find out later in the film.Idris Elba plays the pilot Janek who character that someone that's a bit of a player but there is this side where he'll do everything to get the job done.Guy Pearce plays peter weyland a multi billionaire company director that builds better world trying to find the answer to life but finds it out the hard way.Logan Marshall-Green plays Charlie Holloway now what happens to he's character was just completely evil & nasty the way he went i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, Sean Harris plays Fifield a complete nut case geologist who finds him self is a Heep load of trouble on lv-223 along with Rafe Spall character Millburn who serious did not go out in a pleasant way that was serious evil.The way this film start made you think what the hell was really happen here as soon as you get in to the film you start realise whats going on & then the tension of fear kicks in as the story unfolds.with the special effect of the creatures & the orgisisms this film really dose deliever what ridley scott promised this film was about.with the way it ended it really did show how the whole film saga plays out from alien to alien resurection,just an outstanding film all together.Iam so impressed with this film is so go with my dvd collection of the alien trilogy.

Dislikes : Nothing what so ever just an impressive film.

Overall : HORROR,SC-FI, ALIEN CREATURE THIS FILM HOLD NO PUNCHS,I WORTH WATCH FILM NOT TO BE MISSED.
