Story: Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. At first he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking. That all changes, however, when he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well

Likes : Hand up for Disney here,Ive got to hand it to Disney every now & then Disney makes a master piece of family entertainment. The film was brilliantly made, stunning visual effect & c.g.i.The film will take you on a magical journey of wonder, mayhem & magic, the story is told of the begin before Dorothy landed in oz, it a tale of how the witch become a evil witch & how oz becomes the wizard of oz.a fantastic performance by all.James Franco plays this con artist magician through he faults in a travel circus ends up in oz after a tornado & is force to protect a city from a evil witch in order to save the everyone. The incredible beautiful Mila Kunis who is seriously look beautiful in this film plays Theodoraa good witch now her storyline seem plan & simple but the storyline for her character takes a twist & when you see this scene you will see why this fits with the original story of wizard of oz.Rachel Weisz plays Evanora now her character you mite seem as being a good person but its predictable from the start when you see her that she not who she seems to be & whats she doesnt is create a complete monster.Michelle Williams really looking beautiful as the white witch she also plays two part to this film which you will see when you watch the film, her performance was brilliant,i love the way she came in to her own in the end.Zach Braff (scrubs) cameo.plays Frank assistant to oz in the travel circus & the voice of the funny flying bell boy monkey Finley , i love this character even tho he small he has a heart of courage.Bill Cobbs cameo role) Master Tinker of the city who can make anything,Joey King plays two parts in the film one is a little girl that cant walk & is in a wheel chair the other is a kind of creepy but cute china doll of china town in oz who town is complete destroyed by the witch's minions, some of these scene are very emotion so be prepared for tears.would you believe that Bruce Campbell stars in this film as well as the Winkie Gate Keeper. This is so worth watching just for the story of wizard of oz,it dose explain a few things so this is a prequel to the orignal.I do hope they reboot the old orignal films to tie in with this film, because it was such amazing story it will blow your mind.

Dislike: There nothing really wrong with this film at all to be honest its a well made film.

Overall : A well worth watching film, that will take your family of a journey of magic & adventure.

Rating: 5 out of 5 for entertainment / 9.7 out of 10 for concept & tieing the story to the original

  1. Good review Gerry. Innocuous and pleasing to the eye, but sparse in terms of back-story particularly the witches. It’s not terrible, but it’s just okay.
