Gerry Barnaby's Film Review: Haywire

Genre: Action Thriller, contains strong violent action & fighting scenes

Cert: 18 cert

Story: This dynamic action-thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh boasts a talented cast that includes Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas, Michael Angarano; and introduces MMA superstar Gina Carano as Mallory Kane, in a demanding lead role that has her performing her own high-adrenaline stunts. Mallory Kane is a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead by someone close to her in her own agency. Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive .

Likes : Gina carano dam what a beautiful woman, beautiful can handle her self in real life as she imma superstar fighter i believe she a kick boxer but her performance in this film was good,storyline was OK she plays Mallory Kane a government special black ops under contract gets burn & set up by her boss played by Ewan mcgregor who performance want to bad as well, i love the fight scene just total brutal the way she kick ass,the bunch & kick just had that vicious intent to kill behind them which i love in film it show realism in the actionthe others actors performance were pretty good all in all not a bad film.

Dislikes : it was a little slow & short should of been more action & the ending was a little lame.

Overall : if you like thriller this was ok,action most of the way through,Gina carano is eye candy for the boys.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars for fightscences, 6 out of 10 for action/thriller theme.

Gerry Barnaby's Film Review: Alvin & The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked

Genre: Animation Comedy Family,  safe for kids to watch all ages

Cert: U cert

Story: Playing around while aboard a cruise ship, the Chipmunks and Chipettes accidentally go overboard and end up marooned in a tropical paradise. They discover their new turf is not as deserted as it seems.

Likes : I love this film,it makes you laugh & smile,it just a feel good family film, Alvin is so funny up to he old habit of getting in to trouble but this time they end up on an island after falling off the cruise ship mucking around.the songs are just fantastic even though their song in squeaky voices it got that beat that you just want to get up & dance to,i think Alvin & the chipmunk have come alone way since the animation cartoon series on TV i think they have done a good job at bring them to C.G.I ON THE BIG SCREEN.the end was so funny.

Dislikes : there is nothing wrong with this film

Overall : a FANTASTIC FILM FOR ALL THE FAMILY,A MUST SEE FILM,your be laughing all the way through.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars for entertainment, 10 out of 10 for laughs & family film

Gerry Barnaby's Film Review: Underworld : The Awakening

Genre:  Action Fantasy Horror, contain strong language & bloody violence

Cert: 18 cert

Story: Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films as she wasn't in the third one, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

Likes : wow! this film was action from start to finish,Kate beckinsale reprising her role as selene a death dealer from the first two films of the trilogy in this fouth installment,the werewolf are bigger and stronger,i love the storyline of the world finding out about the two clans. Its was just an all out war to cleanse the world of both lycan & vampire.i love the fact that kept it dark like the other 3 films & they put the back story in it to so if you havent seen the others you would know what was going on.but the story didnt just end there there will be more films of this,how many im not sure but i think underworld is a fantastic film.

Dislikes : nothing wrong with the film

Overall : if you loved the first 3 films your love this one action from start to finish with just all out blood & gore with some intence scence.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars for entertainment, 10 out of 10 for vampire theme & fight scence.

Gerry Barnaby's Film Review: The Descendants

Genre:  Comedy Drama, contain some strong language

Cert: 15 cert

Story:  set in Hawaii, The Descendants is a sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey for Matt King (George Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki. The event leads to a rapprochement with his young daughters while Matt wrestles with a decision to sell the family's land handed down from Hawaiian royalty and missionaries.

Likes :  Wow what a heart warming but emotional film,george clooney plays a father matt king who struggle to be a father after his wife as an accident & ends up in a comer,but find out she was having affaird with someone before the accident,i love films like this it make you think of the thing that are inportant in life no matter how bad things get your family is inportant,i dont think ive cryed this much through a film in my life it really dose hit your heart,george clooney is an amazing actor & winner of the globe award for this film. i just could say anything about this you realy have to watch it,its one of those films that makes you laugh but cry aswell.

Dislikes : slightly a bit slow but you can forgive that with the contense of the film.

Overall A heart warm & emotional story that will have you crying, laughing but makes you think of thing inportant in life,a worth watch film

Rating:  5 out of 5 stars for storyline, 8 out of 10 for drama & emotional theme

Gerry Barnaby's Film Review: The Darkest Hour

Genre: Action Horror Sci-Fi , contains strong alien violence & death scenes

Cert: 15 -18 cert

Story:  The Darkest Hour is the story of five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The 3D thriller highlights the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effect

Likes : This was ok storyline wasnt to bad,special were good,acting was soilded,there was a few moment that did have you on the edge of your seat,effect of the people being turned to dust was awesome.special effect on the aliens wasnt to bad.

Dislikes : Started off good,but seriously lacking any sence of direction & the ending was terrorible,this film could of been so much more that what it is.

Overall : Serious wait for the dvd because its not worth the money to watch it at the cinema i found this film to be rush.but it up to you if you want to watch it or not but youve been warned.

Rating: 2 out of 5 for entertainment, 3 out of 10 for storyline & ending





Gerry Barnaby's Film Review : Mission Impossible 4 Ghost Protocol

Genre: Action Adventure Thriller, contains strong violence & medium strong language

Cert: 15 cert

Story: In the 4th installment of the Mission Impossible series, Ethan Hunt and his team are racing against time to track down a dangerous terrorist named Hendricks, who has gained access to Russian nuclear launch codes and is planning a strike on the United States. An attempt by the team to stop him at the Kremlin ends in a disaster, with an explosion causing severe destruction to the Kremlin and the IMF being implicated in the bombing, forcing the President to invoke Ghost Protocol, under which the IMF is disavowed, and will be offered no help or backup in any form. Undaunted, Ethan and his team chase Hendricks to Dubai, and from there to Mumbai, but several spectacular action sequences later, they might still be too late to stop a disaster 

Likes :  This wasn't a bad film, it like the first film but with more twists, it really dose keep you thinking to what's going on, action was good as well tom cruise is show is age now, not as young as he was in the other ones , but still a dam good actor, the stunts were just awesome special when tom charter climb a build 400 floors high just to get in to a room but there was a few moment that will shock you & make you jump out of your seat. Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn final get a field job after passing the agent field test he had some funny moments in this film, Jeremy Renner as William Brandt a past that he wants to leave behind because of regret of something that happen, he was very good in this role, Paula Patton as Jane Carter beautiful actress plays the new female role in the team her performance was awesome she really kick ass in this film.

Dislikes : slightly bit slow but not to bad

Overall : Good action, good twists, storyline not to bad but a worth watching film.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars for entertainment, 8 out of 10 for twists in storyline & action.
